ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AT BOMAS BEAT NAIROBI

BRS led by the Director General, Kenneth Gathuma undertook a tree planting exercise at Bomas Beat Forest in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service planted 1100 tree seedlings.

The exercise is in line with our Performance Contracting requirement and with the National Tree Growing, and Restoration Campaign to grow 15 billion trees for the restoration of 10.6 million hectares by 2032 and the recent Presidential directives.

To ensure survival of the trees planted, BRS is currently in a three-year partnership with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) to reforest and conserve sections of Ngong Forest Reserve and Bomas Beat.

This partnership will ensure protection of the planted area for 3 years through engagement of community scouts (to complement patrolling by rangers) and maintenance of the planted area by weeding twice a year.
